Cisco Wants Enterprise Compatibility for iPhone

Even as Apple and Cisco were staging a legal flack over the name “iPhone,” most sources — including us — suggested that the scuffle was actually the first round of negotiations between the two firms, with compatibility with the iPhone being Cisco’s ultimate goal.

The iPhone rumors this week are non-stop. As if the ruckus over rebates and subsidies for the iPhone weren’t enough, now an online newsletter claims that the iPhone is suffering from poor batter life, echoing an earlier rumor broken by John Dvorak two weeks ago. 25% of Teens Would Buy an iPhone - report

A study carried out in the USA by analysts at Piper Jaffray has reported that there is a very high awareness of the new Apple iPhone amongst teens - and a strong interest in purchasing the handset despite its fairly high price point. Of the students surveyed by Piper Jaffray, 84% had heard of the iPhone, and 25% would buy an iPhone at the US$500 price point.

Apple has updated its privacy policy as part of the rollout of iOS 8, announcing that devices with the latest version of the operating system installed can no longer be accessed by the company itself. Previously, as we reported in May 2014, if law enforcement came to Apple with a seized device and a valid warrant, it was able to access a substantial portion of the data already on an iPad or iPhone.

TouchPal, a world leading keyboard app developer with over 200 million Android users, announced today that TouchPal Keyboard for iOS is officially launched along with iOS 8. It is available for download in Apple’s App Store as one of the first third-party keyboard apps for iOS.

Third-party developers of iOS apps today urged iPhone and iPad users not to accept Apple’s offer to upgrade iCloud storage to iCloud Drive after they install the new iOS 8. Last week I decided to test the most secretive, hotly anticipated smartphones on earth in a place where there was no danger of them being recognized or damaged or both: Disneyland. Both my wife and I are Disneyphiles of sorts, and visit a dozen times a year or more. I have an appreciation for it because my daughter loves to go, but also because of how carefully the place is planned, constructed and run. Disneyland is the Apple of theme parks.
