Navigon 2.9 optimized for the bigger iPhone 6 & 6 Plus screens

Our favorite GPS application has been changed to make use of the bigger screens on the new iPhones. The iPhone 6 Plus is especially more attractive now you can put this huge screen in your car. There aren’t that much new apps yet that use the extra screen estate. So if you aren’t using it yet, get it in the app store, you will not regret it and otherwise it might have been updated in the background and you didn’t even noticed it. Time to fire-up the app on your next road trip.

Galaxy on Fire grosses another gameplay mode in GoF Alliances

One of the most striking characteristics of the Warzone mode is the specific design of the respective star maps, which are more compact than the regular maps and hold no more than 1,000 players each. Starting in one of 12 outer spawn clusters, these particularly dauntless players lay claim to the “Inner Realm” of the map, which hosts the most valuable planets and citadels. Naturally, this is also the place where the most hard-fought battles take place and where we might even find the one alliance that is strong enough to dominate an entire server all on their own—an undertaking that is easier said than done.

The real reason why the iPhone 6 (Plus) bends

Just after the most successful smartphone launch in history to date, #bendgate was the trending topic on the anti-social media. The first adapters needed to inform themselves swiftly, because all of their friends and mom suddenly started interrogating them about this “design error” and they’d to defend their appalling phone purchase on top of the fact that most features were already in 2 year old Androids. Did Apple made the new iPhones too thin for the beauty of aesthetics, and from aluminium instead of Samsung-plastic™?

Apple had to come out with an official statement and so it happend, they even introduced the collective press to the unrevealed Cupertino testing facilities, something they’d also done after the iPhone 4 #antennagate. They came with the following statement;

Impressions iPhone 6 sales London

The Regent street Apple Store is situated in the hart of West-End shopping frenzy. At the time of the fist opening of the store it was the biggest Apple store on the European continent. This weekend one of our friends was so kind to send in some pictures from his visit to the store.

The people queuing all have pre-ordered the new iPhones, no iPhones yet for regular shoppers. The first sales and preordering started in the UK already 10 days after the presentation in Cupertino. The sales seem to go better then their live event streaming fiasco.

Marble is winning me over in 2014. Just a year ago, the only objects I owned made out of marble were salt-and-pepper shakers that my wife wouldn’t let me get rid of. Fast forward a year, and I’m lusting after the Ovo, an iPhone speaker made out of a beveled cylinder of marble that looks just gorgeous.

3D photography is a very cool area of tech that is getting increasingly popular, but there’s a pretty sizable barrier right now. In order to capture 3D imagery, you need to buy dedicated 3D scanning hardware that is often quite expensive, and most people don’t want to be bothered with it. That will continue to be the case for some time when it comes to complex 3D imaging, but a new app from Swiss software company Dacuda adds very cool 3D imaging capabilities to your iPhone.

Three months ago we published our iPhone 6 review and iPhone 6 Plus review, diving deep into Apple’s big and bigger new phones. We took our time and tested everything from the new screens to the new cameras to the new chipsets. But now we’ve lived with these phones for weeks at a time and we’ve gotten to know them better than any preliminary review would allow.

In the years I’ve spent covering iOS automation, I’ve often asked for a mobile version of Automator. Workflow, released today, tries to bring the deep system integration of Apple’s OS X utility to the iPhone and iPad, taking advantage of extensions in iOS 8 to make its automation features ubiquitous and compatible with any app. Readers of MacStories and iOS power users may be familiar with Drafts and Launch Center Pro, the apps that kickstarted iOS’ small revolution with shortcuts and automated chains of actions that let apps communicate in ways the system didn’t provide out of the box.

Chinese smartphone maker Huawei just took the wraps off its latest Android phone, and it looks awfully familiar (via Engadget). The new Honor 6 Plus, a follow-up to the company’s Honor 6 phone, comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p screen — just like Apple’s similarly-named iPhone 6 Plus.

This guide will show you how to remove duplicate contacts on the iPhone with iOS 8. This works with all current iPhones from the iPhone 4s up to the iPhone 6 Plus. If you only need to get rid of a few duplicate contacts on the iPhone you can do this manually in a few seconds, but if you need to fix dozens you’ll want to use an app that can remove all your duplicate contacts on the iPhone at once.

One of the most difficult parts about owning a new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus is picking out an equally-new wallpaper. It has to be crisp, beautiful, breath-taking, inspiring, bold, colourful, rich, and preferably all of the above.

As I’ve noted over the last few days, I’m a big fan of wireless charing. While there are a number of standards out there, Qi is arguably in the lead thanks to extensive hardware support, such as the latest Nexus devices, the mid-and high-end Lumia handsets, and peripherals from companies (such as Sony’s latest BlueTooth speaker) all supporting the standards of the Wireless Power Consortium.

Google’s new “Material Design” aesthetic was a big part of the Lollipop update for Android, but even if you’ve got an Android phone or iDevice running another operating system you’ve probably run into it in one or more of the company’s apps. Today the company announced a new version of the Google app for iOS that takes things even further—it looks a whole lot like Android, from the swipe-able cards used to switch between tabs (see above) to the software navigation buttons across the bottom of the screen.

Too many apps still look lousy on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The oversized, ugly status bar still greets us several times each day. And the system keyboard ever-so-slightly changing size is enough to make anyone crazy. Why?

It’s hard for app creators to stand out in the insanely crowded marketplace that is the App Store. With dozens if not hundreds of new apps going up every day, many get lost. But one thing that almost always works is controversy. Although Apple does vet software that goes up on its platform, it’s not a foolproof process.

A number of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus owners have been reporting an issue with the device that causes it to crash and remain stuck in a boot loop following a restart. The issue appears to primarily affect 128 GB models, particularly those with larger app libraries, and some suggest it may be a hardware problem associated with the increased storage available on that device.
